Abstract
Movement without a story
Colour, gesture and rhythm, without figure or story.
In Abstract, Nico Seymus lets go of the face. No warriors, no prophets, no guardians: only colour in motion. The works come about quickly and intuitively, with broad sweeps, drips and lines that shoot across the surface. What may be the background in his figurative work becomes the subject here.
Red, ochre and black collide and find each other again. A line starts somewhere and ends somewhere else, without warning. There is no right way to look at them. Some see a flame, a bird or a storm; others simply see energy.
Abstract differs from Essence. Where Essence slows down and brings things back to the core, this series speeds up. It is work of the moment: a gesture that cannot be repeated, and that is why it stays unique.
